The IC-705’s Picture Sharing Function

Photo share features in the IC-705

Usually pictures are shared with friends by e-mail, SMS app, or Bluetooth. The introduction of digital communication for amateur radio has opened up many new enjoyable features such as the picture sharing function by amateur radio.
The Photo Share feature, as seen in the IC-9700, is available on the IC-705 to let you share pictures with other IC-705 and IC-9700 radios without a computer while you are rag chewing on the air.

How to send a picture using the IC-705 in just 5 steps!

  • STEP 1: Install the ST-4001I/A app to your smartphone
The app names are different depending on your smartphone OS (iPhone or Android).
  • STEP 2: Insert a microSD card and set up WLAN in the IC-705
Turn ON the WLAN in your IC-705. You also have to set the Network Name.
  • STEP 3:  Connect to your smartphone
Make sure you can use the tethering function, then set your smartphone as a hotspot in the IC-705’s WLAN menu.
  • STEP 4: Select and edit a picture to send
Check the IP address of your IC-705, and enter it in the ST-4001I/A app. Then, on the app, select a picture from your smart phone album. You can enter your call sign or favorite words in the picture if you want. Forward the picture to your IC-705.
  • STEP 5: Start talking in the DV mode and send the picture!
Touch [PICT TX], push PTT, and start talking. The picture is sent little by little (via slow data communication) while you are talking with your friends. A picture taken in the place where you do your field operation would be perfect to share!

Enjoy Picture Sharing with the IC-705 or IC-9700 and some Icom handhelds.

IC-9700: Visually Seize the VHF/UHF World!

High-speed real-time spectrum scope, waterfall dispay and built-in 1200MHz!

The IC-9700 is an all mode tri-band transceiver covering 2 m, 70 cm, and 23 cm.
In addition to the traditional SSB, AM, FM, CW, and RTTY modes, the VHF/UHF transceiver also incorporates the D-STAR (Digital Smart Technology for Amateur Radio) DV and DD modes.

A brand new experience and many features:

  • All mode transceiver: 144, 430 and 1200 MHz including Satellite, DV and DD modes
  • Real-time spectrum scope and waterfall display
  • High-speed spectrum scope 128 kbps in DD mode
  • Intuitive touch screen display
  • Full duplex to transmit on the MAIN band while receiving on the SUB band

Users of the IC-7610, IC-7851, IC-7850 HF amateur radio bases can take advantage of new features accessible from their PC :

  • Dual standby
  • Dual spectrum analyzer(1) with waterfall function
  • Simultaneous visualization of MAIN and SUB spectrum scopes
  • Adjusting the panel size, RIT and ⊿TX functions, [MUTE] button, etc.

(1) The Dualwatch operation and dual spectrum scopes functions are only for the IC-7851, IC-7850 and IC-7610. The spectrum scope functions (single receive) are usable with the IC-7300.

The RS-BA1 V2 software goes even further!

Dualwatch operation and Spectrum Scopes
The new version of the RS-BA1 V2 remote control software replaces the RS-BA1, which is widely appreciated by radio amateurs. It offers access to the functionalities of some ICOM radios from a PC via IP.

The RS-BA1 version 2 allows real time use with an ICOM radio located within range or in another room or remote and therefore accessible via the Internet. It guarantees very good sound quality with low latency.

Note for original version RS-BA1 users: Upgrade service from RS-BA1 to RS-BA1 Version 2 is not available. To obtain the new features in the RS-BA1 Version 2, the purchase of a new software package is required.

IC-7610 : RF Direct Sampling Takes You to the Next Level!

Advanced RMDR and True Dual Receive

Whether it is poor band conditions, or battling to pick out a call in a large pile-up, faint signals have always been a challenge for DXers and Contesters around the world.

The difference between putting the QSO in the log or having to try another time is the capability of your receiver. One key factor is the RMDR capabilities, the ability to pick out a faint signal in the presence of stronger, adjacent signals.

The IC-7610 introduces dual RF direct sampling receivers, achieving 110dB RMDR, rivaling that of top-of-the-line transceivers.
