IF-MAIL is a program that makes it possible for isolated points of contact, which cannot connect to a wired telephone network, to be able to send and receive e-mails to the set of stations on the network by using a radio link (a).
If one of the stations is connected to the Internet, it will transparently serve as a router, which allows all stations connected by radio to send and receive emails all over the world (b).
(a) Example of a network with radio-only communication access. The stations exchange emails by radio. A vehicle that has a PC can also send emails through the closed network, and even be localised if it is equipped with GPS.

(b) Example of three stations, only one of which (Station 1) has an Internet connection. Stations 2 and 3 that are connected by radio, can thus automatically exchange traffic with subscribers all over the world who have an email address. A vehicle that has a PC can also send emails all over the world, and even be localised if it is equipped with GPS.
